Our beloved faculty

First of all, I love my career and there are a lot of positive things I can say about the curriculum and subjects we have to study in musical interpretation, but sadly there are also good ideas bad implemented in the curriculum that produce a waste of time in many cases.

A good example of this are some theoretical subjects when students of all careers have to assist and the format is like a “forum” led by various teachers, is a good idea to share opinions with different students from different careers, but manage a course with over 60 students and organize that is truly difficult, in my experience, it doesn't result well and neither productive.

Another point related to this kind of subjects are their extension over 3 hours, adding travel times to the faculty.. ¡Is a lot of time!, You spend a whole afternoon in these subjects, and when the career requires you to study every day your instrument a lot of hours, this is a huge problem with the main objective of the career, subjects shouldn't be so long at all.

Talking about the infrastructure of the faculty I think is one of the main problems of the career, the study rooms are not completely prepared for the instrumental practicing and there are not enough for all students! In my personal case I have seen pianos in very bad conditions, out of tone and faulty keys, that is a very bad signal in the faculty.

In the other side, the teaching methods of teachers are pretty good and pedagogical, they have years of experience and can connect very well with their students. Maybe they don’t use so much technology, but they have a tradition in teaching that is a big value in the career.

  2. Hi Francisco! I hope you're well. I totally agree with you about subjects with all careers of the faculty, it's an excellent idea but poorly managed. Personally, I loved the idea but, I have become disillusioned over time; in my experience, it doesn't result well too.

    Regards!
